As a parent, you want the highest quality of care for your child

Pediatric Orthopedic Doctors – Children are our Speciality

Our doctors at the Medical City Children’s Orthopedics and Spine Specialists specialize in a comprehensive array of orthopedic conditions, ranging from fracture care to sports injuries, and congenital/acquired conditions. For example, these conditions include hip dysplasia, clubfoot, scoliosis, and spine and limb deformities. Family picture with doctor and daughter with a cast.

Because of our training, expertise, knowledge, skills, and abilities, you can trust Doctors Kishan, Hostin, and Wiesman who provide quality diagnosis, treatment, and care for children, adolescents, and teenagers with orthopedic conditions or deformities.

Based on our pediatric doctor’s and surgeon’s experience, the team will determine the source of your child’s pain and treat it conservatively. As such, we strive to establish a family-centered treatment plan for our patients. For example, we are not only concerned about the present but about how our patients will grow and develop in the future. Also, our team consists of board-certified doctors, numerous office and surgery staff, casting specialists, and doctor’s assistants. As well as, collaborating with pediatricians, family doctors, and physical therapists for all-inclusive care.

Our philosophy is to treat each child with the utmost compassion and experienced individualized care. Of course, we treat our patients just as we would our own children.

Whether you suspect that your child may have a fractured bone from a sports injury. Or if you want to determine if your child may have scoliosis, you can have confidence in our team. Our board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeons have successfully performed more than 6,000 surgeries.

Over the years, our practice has built a comprehensive program for children.  Thus, we assure you, as a parent, that you have a trusted resource for all your child’s orthopedic needs.

Medical City Children’s Orthopedic and Spine Specialists are more Accessible for our busy Parents.

X-rays for diagnosingThus, when developing our pediatric orthopedic practice years ago, we wanted to serve those parents who have busy schedules to juggle. Meanwhile, that’s why we have Fracture Care Clinics every day! With five locations, one of our locations should be close to you and be ready for you and your child. Currently, our Fracture Care Clinics are conveniently located in Arlington, Dallas, Flower Mound, Frisco, and McKinney. And no appointment is needed, just bring your child in to be examined without an appointment. To sum it up, if you suspect a broken bone come see us at one of our clinics. Surely, you and your child will receive quick attention to your possible fracture and avoid long wait times in the emergency waiting rooms.

First, one of our fracture care experts will examine your child’s broken bone. In the event, that your child needs an X-ray you can get it done in our office. Next, if you need a splint or a cast, we have those too. We are a full-service fracture care clinic. Also, if surgery is the best choice to help your child’s fracture heal correctly; we can help get that scheduled for you too. We work closely with Medical City Hospital and have access to their facility every day. Overall, you and your child will be on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.

It is important to choose Pediatric Orthopedic Doctors who Specialize in Children.

Unfortunately, orthopedic surgeons who only focus on adults may not factor in the need to pay close attention to growth plates in children. Meanwhile, growth plates are growing tissue on the ends of the long bones of children and adolescents. When treating a child’s injury, your pediatric orthopedic doctors will also evaluate your child’s growth plate to ensure the bone heals correctly.” says Dr. Shyam Kishan. “Lastly, growth plates are the weakest areas of a child’s growing skeleton. Because they are weak, it makes them extremely vulnerable to injuries and must be considered when diagnosing and recommending the right treatment.”

Your child deserves the best orthopedic care possible and if your child is in pain our experts can help!

Pediatric Orthopedic Doctors Treating Scoliosis – Children to Adults.

Pediatric Orthopedic doctors diagnosing Spine conditionKnowing that in some cases scoliosis is a genetic disease, Doctors Shyam Kishan, Richard Hostin, and Kathryn Wiesman are leaders in scoliosis treatment for all ages from children through adults. If your child’s scoliosis progresses as they age, you will have consistent care. Therefore, is no “aging-out” of our care, we continue to treat our patients as long as you need us. As a result, our doctors will be available to your child as he or she matures. In addition, your doctors will have a medical evidence-based treatment plan for your child through adulthood with the same leading orthopedic doctors team.

To sum up, a second opinion is recommended if your child has been diagnosed with scoliosis. With a second opinion, by one of our experts, you can be assured as to the type and progression of his or her’s unique condition. Based on these two factors our doctors can give you, the parent, research-based individualized treatment options, starting with conservative treatments. In most cases, it is important to establish a baseline diagnosis to refer to as your child’s bones grow and develop.

The Tether Procedure

“First of all, we want our parents to be informed and aware of the signs of scoliosis,” says Dr. Kathryn Wiesman. “So, please take the Scoliosis Quiz to help determine if you need to speak with our pediatric scoliosis experts about your child.”

“At first, recovery was hard but everybody would kind of work with me and Dr. Hostin would visit me, so I felt OK. Also, the pain was really only the first day after surgery. After that, I felt fine.”
